BROWN NOTE COLLECTIVE : { web | web2 }
Brown
Note Collective (formerly Spermatic Chord) is an experimental music collective in Hong Kong of an undefinable musical genre. Their approach to music is ambiguous, combining traditional and experimental forms, with a provocative mix of composition and improvisation. The collective is comprised of over a dozen accomplished musicians, many being multi-instrumentalists. They blend and contrast styles in compelling and sometimes shocking ways with deep understanding and mastery of the individual styles of music they play. Brown Note Collective's music is cerebral, vibrant, and daringly playful. Their live performances are usually unpredictable and absurd, often leaving the audience either in awe or in total confusion.

Emily Szeto + Casper Chan
Emily was born in 1986, Hong Kong. She is a 2008 graduate of Fine Arts, Chinese University of Hong Kong. She lives in a traditional family and studied in a girl school, where rigid rules are set and followed. This leads to her strong desire for freedom and constantly seeking identity by observing the routine world and creating her own system in her art.
Emily mainly put her focus on mixed media and installation work.
Casper is a final year fine arts student in the Chinese University. She explores identity and female sensibility in her drawings. Incompetent at verbal expressions, she is constantly looking for a way out.
Emily and Casper sometimes work together to fill in each other's dearth.
